The project will provide interactive interpretation to pre- and post-arrival visitors and locals, via on-line and MP3 or similar audio files, attractive information panels and more detailed leaflets, with photographic, graphic and textual narratives bringing the histories of the miners and their communities alive.
It will also promote the use of a number of local footpaths, particularly those which are still used to connect communities with mine workings and with other communities in the area.
Significant consultation work has already been undertaken including three open community meetings held, but the details of routes, panel locations and interpretative content will be developed by the selected project contractor together with all relevant communities and statutory and non-statutory bodies.
