Hello again, before the time of man the landscapes of northern Ceredigion were shaped by the forces of nature creating the mineral veins that man was later to discover.
For 4000 years minerals were discovered and removed from the earth as the markets and technologies developed.
Once the market for minerals had declined the mine workings were abandoned, when, once again, the forces of nature and time began the process of reclaiming the landscape.
The
flora and fauna of the landscape is evolving, using the new habitats and environments as their host.
These new habitats and environments are unique to metal mine sites and require special consideration for
conservation puposes.
